The argument that I would like to put forth to you is that I believe it would help us immensely if we stopped thinking in terms of "either it's all or it's nothing" with respect to many of the worldly things that matter to us that we all like to discuss. Many things are just not as simple as "it's black or it's white."
Taking the abortion argument as an example you have someone that is either pro-choice or pro-life which immediately sets each party up for simplistic thinking, arguments a wider dividend between the two parties, and less chance of being able to find common ground where each person could have at least agreed on something.
With regards to many of the things we like to discuss and that mean a lot to us whether they be abortion, euthanasia, etc rest on the complex range of issues where each and every individual circumstance is different. There is a whole subset of multiplex subjects ranging from abortion, euthanasia, religion, etc just to name a few, and there is hardly ever any "be all end all" straightforward answer to the many challenges that these subjects present us with.
The unexamined thought is not worth thinking.
